Department of Mechanical Engineering

Prof. S.R. Paul
Professor & HOD
Mechanical Engineers play the main role in the design of all products and systems essential to everyday modern life-from home appliances, sports equipment and motor vehicles, to satellites, wheelchairs, airplanes, robots, solar panels, fuel cells, industrial equipment and environmental control systems. They are the designers of the mechanical, thermal and fluid-flow related aspects of all such systems, including computer and feedback control of complex systems. In fact, mechanical engineers play a role in designing most of the things that people use. Look around you and you will see their contributions everywhere.
Mechanical engineering continues to play a key role in developing, operating and manufacturing new machines, devices and processes to benefit mankind. Mechanical engineers apply their creative imaginations and professional skills to combine both theory and practice in a variety of situations. For this, they need an in-depth understanding of scientific principles and engineering processes. They also need to be able to develop solutions to real-life problems in the face of conflicting requirements. Mechanical engineers in the commercial world combine technical and management skills to retain the competitive advantage for their companies.
Our department has experienced, well qualified and dedicated faculty. State-of-art laboratories and workshops form an integral part of the Department. The infrastructure is updated on regular basis. The Department provides congenial environment both to the students and the faculty for professional competency and technical proficiency.
Our department is committed to prepare effective and responsible graduate engineers for global requirements by providing quality education and respond effectively to the needs of the industry and changing world to keep the faculty abreast with latest knowledge in the field they are encouraged to attend seminars, conferences etc. and to present their research work at important conferences.
As per the requirements of the industry and the corporate sector an engineer is required to present the facts and the contents in the most logical manner. Apart from this, a confident personality can lead a group and is able to face any situation at corporate level. In order to inculcate such traits in our students the Department arranges seminars and invites eminent persons for expert talks. All these activities not only sharpen their technical skills but also help in building their morale. Another feature of the Department's effort is the continuous development of the personality of the students by providing proficiency in soft skills.
I heartily welcome our students and wish them prosperous and glorious future in their endeavors for attaining global standards.
